Yesterday I spent a night at NAU music school's Percussion Concert.
My friend, who invited me to the concert, told me that it would be a symphony orchestra concert. I was so excited because I am an orchestra concert lover and it turned out to be just a percussion concert, nothing to do with string instruments, and of course, I didn't get to see my favorite flute performance!
At the beginning I was abit disappointed, but the disappointment disappeared when the enchanting music that produced by the vibraphone (a percussion instrument similar to a xylophone but having metal bars and rotating disks in the resonators that produce a vibrato sound) melted my heart. Percussion instruments mainly are vibraphone and drums and triangle and chimes..haha..you get to feel the rhythm when the performers beat the drums so fast and tapped the vibraphone with 4 'sticks mallets' simultaneously!
After the concert, I realize, although the percussionists are always not being the spot light in an orchestra concert, but they too, alone, able to compose a captivating and fascinating music. Their rhythmic performance really surprise me.
